The provision is good

Staff are warm and welcoming of all children at this nursery.

They are nurturing and sensitive towards children. Staff listen to children's points of view and reassuringly cuddle babies. Children quickly settle-in and build strong bonds with their key persons.

They show they feel safe and part of the nursery. Children enjoy the company of their friends and form close relationships with them. Leaders plan a broad and enriching curriculum that helps children understand and make connections to real life and the local community.

Leaders are committed to providing meaningful outdoor learning experiences for childre...n. Children enjoy routine trips to the duck pond, fire station and Tate Modern gallery, for example. They enjoy good opportunities to be physically active and develop their balance and coordination from weekly 'cycle tots' sessions.

Babies enjoy exploring across the tranquil and well-prepared environment. Staff play classical music in the rooms and children play happily in the relaxed atmosphere. Staff communicate high expectations for children.

Children know the routines and their behaviour is very good. Children keenly help tidy up. They know when it is mealtime, rest and group times.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff support children's early literacy very well. Staff enthusiastically read stories in ways that captivate babies' attention. Babies display a keen interest in books.

They remain engrossed as they competently turn the pages to look at pictures.Staff sit with children and model thinking out loud. They consistently support children to count objects and actions as they play with them.

Children confidently apply these skills practically, such as, when counting the number of strawberries for their exotic salads.Staff promote children's independence and self-care skills effectively. They intuitively stand back and allow children to wipe their own faces, dry their hands and attempt to dress themselves.

Children handle cutlery competently and drink from individual beakers and cups.Staff organise and encourage children's healthy eating and appetites. Children enjoy frozen yogurt lollipops made with natural fruits for snack.

They learn facts about unfamiliar fruits, such as honeydew melon, as they practice slicing and cutting during cooking activities with the nursery chef.Staff promote children's understanding of how to maintain their good oral health through daily dry toothbrushing time. Children know that thoroughly cleaning their upper and lower teeth helps prevent gum disease and tooth decay.

Across the nursery, staff skilfully support children to understand language used to express their different emotions through stories, flash cards and circle time discussions. They talk to children about how some actions affect their peers. This helps children say how they feel and develop empathy for others.

Children are kind and behave well.Staff ensure they are aware of individual children's starting points, interests and next steps. This helps them plan activities that challenge children, builds their confidence, language and communication.

The SENCo is proactive and works with the manager to ensure referrals to external professionals are made in a timely manner. This ensures children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported.Parents speak highly of the nursery.

They describe leaders and staff as dedicated expert educators for their children. They appreciate the quality of staff's daily feedback and information about what their children are learning at nursery. Nevertheless, the existing system for promoting continuing children's learning at home needs strengthening further.

This is because not all parents receive the help necessary to enable them to effectively support their children's home learning.Leaders have put in place an effective programme of support for staff's well- being and professional development. Several staff hold lead roles for specific areas of the curriculum.

This ensures children have high- quality learning experiences. Staff say they are happy in their roles and benefit from allocated time to complete further qualifications.Leaders have successfully addressed the actions and recommendation set at the previous inspection.

Staff promote children's good health, understanding of germs and high hygiene standards throughout the nursery. Leaders have placed a particular focus on embedding strong safeguarding practice. Therefore, staff have a secure understanding of the action they must take if they have concerns about their welfare of a child or the conduct of a colleague.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.There is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first.

To further improve the quality of the early years provision, the provider should: strengthen existing systems for continuing children's learning at home so that all parents receive the help necessary to enable them to effectively support their children's home learning.
