This is a good school The multi-academy trust has provided effective leadership and management of the school since conversion to sponsored academy status in 2016.
It has taken decisive action to improve leadership and the quality of teaching, learning and assessment. The school is well led by the head of teaching and learning, who is supported effectively by the executive headteacher. They have a clear vision for the school, as well as drive, determination and ambition for all pupils.
They have high expectations of staff and pupils. Leaders, including governors and trustees, have a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the school. Governors use... their wide range of skills to challenge leaders well.
Unit leaders are fully committed to improving the quality of teaching and raising standards. Staff are proud to work at the school and are a good team. They have fully supported the school leaders in making necessary improvements.
Teaching is good across the school. This ensures that all groups of pupils make strong progress from their different starting points. However, leaders recognise that the most able pupils could be challenged to do even better.
Children make a good start to the early years. They grow in confidence, enjoy their learning and make good progress during their Reception Year. Leaders and staff have significantly improved the teaching of reading.
Pupils are enthusiastic readers and acquire phonics skills well. Leaders are now working to ensure that mathematics is taught to the same high standard. Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school.
They enjoy coming to school. Pupils are keen to learn, take pride in their work and concentrate well in lessons. Disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) make good progress.
However, this progress is not always reflected by pupils' attainment at the end of each key stage. Pupils benefit from a creative and interesting curriculum. However, this does not yet enable pupils to apply the skills learned in writing and mathematics consistently across the wider curriculum.
Parents are very positive about the school. They say that the school keeps their children safe. They value the support and guidance offered by leaders, the parent support adviser and other staff.
