This provision is good • Children are settled and happy. They show good levels of well-being and enjoyment during their time at pre-school. • Staff present resources and activities well.

Children have plenty of opportunities to choose what to do and what to use. They do so confidently and independently. • Partnerships with parents are strong.

Parents describe staff as 'helpful' and 'very experienced'. Staff provide parents with regular updates on their child's progress and lend resources, such as books, so that parents can continue children's learning at home. • Children, including those in receipt of additional funding, make good progress.

Staff prepare childre...n well for their future learning. Children are confident and excited about starting school. • Staff teach a structured programme of activities well that help children learn about letters and the sounds they represent.

This helps children make good levels of progress with their early literacy skills. • Staff promote the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle effectively. Children enjoy healthy snacks and can spend prolonged periods of time playing and learning in the fresh air.

• The manager does not monitor staff practice closely enough to identify the specific support staff may need to improve their good-quality teaching skills further. • Some whole-group activities last for too long to enable some children to maintain focus and interest. At these times learning is less effective.
