What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision does not meet requirements Children's well-being is compromised because leaders and staff do not have an adequate understanding of the procedures to follow in the event of allegations of harm being made against staff. They do not ensure an appropriately qualified first aider is on site at all times. They have not notified Ofsted of a change of manager at the holiday club.

However, children are very happy in the setting. They are confident to approach staff, who interact warmly with them. Children understand the boundaries and risk assessments in place.

They listen intently to staff as they explain what is going to happen throughout the day a...nd during swimming sessions, which are closely supervised.Children display very good behaviour and enjoy socialising with their friends. They play cooperatively together and eagerly join in with the outdoor activities.

They cheer on their friends as they participate in sports races. They have many opportunities to develop their physical skills. Staff encourage them to roll the ball around their bodies and enter the hoops in the obstacle races.

They learn about changes to their bodies as they are encouraged to jump up and down to keep warm when waiting for their turn.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The designated safeguarding lead for the setting and other staff do not understand the action they should take in the event of an allegation being made against a member of staff. They believe they would explore any concerns themselves and this could compromise any investigations by other agencies.

This puts children's welfare at risk. The provider has not notified Ofsted of a change of management at the setting. This is a requirement of their registration when new managers are appointed.

The provider has not ensured a member of staff on site holds an appropriate paediatric first-aid qualification. The individual has an emergency first aid at work qualification, which does not meet the criteria for effective first-aid training when working with children. This compromises children's safety.

Staff accurately evaluate children's skill level before they commence the swimming sessions. Children are confident to ask questions when reassurance is needed. Staff support children to gain confidence in the water as they use the buoyancy aids as required.

Staff are extremely vigilant as the children excitedly swim across the pool and play with their friends.Children enjoy the range of craft activities at the holiday club. They share their creations with staff, who show interest and ask questions to develop children's communication skills.

Staff praise children for their work and share ideas for extending children's learning.Children learn about being healthy in the setting. Children wash their hands after playing outside and using the toilet.

Although parents provide packed lunches and snacks, staff would speak to parents if healthier options are required. Staff know about children's allergies and ensure the food brought onto the premises is nut free.Leaders support staff with training prior to all holiday camps.

This includes mandatory training in relation to safeguarding, managing behaviour and risk assessments. Meetings occur with the host school to ensure risk assessments are adhered to and built upon. Staff consider all of the risks on the premises to ensure children's safety.

Leaders support staff with supervision and carry out observations on staff practice. This enables them to identify any learning and development needs for staff.Parents express satisfaction with the provision.

They provide staff with information about their children prior to the session, which enables staff to provide care which meets children's individual needs. Parents appreciate that their children have opportunities to mix with their peers and join in a range of activities. Staff feed back to parents verbally at the end of the session.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective.Staff know the signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect and the action to take if concerned about a child's welfare. However, they do not know the procedures to follow in the event of an allegation being made against a member of staff.

Staff are aware of other aspects of safeguarding, such as the 'Prevent' duty, and also how to keep children safe online. Staff carry our risk assessments to ensure the premises are organised in a way to meet the needs of the children and manage risks.

What does the setting need to do to improve?

To meet the requirements of the early years foundation stage and Childcare Register the provider must: Due date ensure all staff know and understand the procedures to follow in the event of an allegation being made against a member of staff 01/05/2023 ensure at least one person with a current paediatric first-aid qualification is on site at all times.
