Summary of key findings for parents

The provision is good • Staff plan a range of opportunities that caters for children's interests. Children say they enjoy coming to the club, making new friends and the play experiences on offer.

• Staff are deployed effectively to ensure children are always well supervised and supported. The environment is safe and secure, and children interact positively with each other. • Children understand what is expected of them and respond well to the club's routines.

Older children are supportive of younger children throughout the session. • Children are very involved in making decisions about the club, particularly in relation to planning activities for upcoming sessions. • Sta...ff take the time to get to know all children well and they understand their responsibilities to keep children safe.

They are sensitive to children's needs and ensure the youngest children are well settled into the wider group. • Staff and older children create a buffet to support healthy eating, which children can access as they need to. Children make their own sandwiches and can choose from a range of other healthy snacks.

It is not yet outstanding because: • Although staff get to know children well, they do not gather enough information from parents at admission to get a good understanding of children's interests and previous experiences before they start. • Staff are well qualified, and understand how to recognise signs of abuse and deal with allegations. However, the current training and supervision arrangements do not ensure that knowledge of wider welfare issues is updated regularly enough.
