What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are collected by staff from their classroom and escorted to the school hall. They are happy to see staff and their friends and eagerly begin chatting about their day. Children understand staff's expectations as they put on their high-visibility jackets ready to walk back to the club.

They walk sensibly together, and staff ensure their safety when crossing a road to reach the club. As children arrive at the club, they are eager to get on with their choice of activity. They enjoy playing ball games outdoors, such as basketball and football.

Children share and take turns with the ball, as well as working in teams. Ot...hers practise their physical skills as they climb, balance and use slides on the play equipment. Indoors, children show high levels of concentration as they create designs by placing small beads onto pins.

They search intently for their chosen colours and older children support younger children with the activity. Staff continuously supervise children closely to ensure their safety and engage in ongoing conversations with them. Children demonstrate high levels of confidence within the club.

They are extremely welcoming of new people and speak enthusiastically about their time at the club and the routine that they are very familiar with.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Since the last inspection, the provider has now informed Ofsted of all committee members, so that appropriate suitability checks could be completed. They are aware of their duty to inform Ofsted of any future changes.

This helps to safeguard children.Staff get to know children very well by gathering information from parents before children start at the club and by observing them during their play. They use their knowledge of children to plan and provide different activities and experiences that they know children will enjoy and benefit from.

As a result, children settle quickly and are very happy at the club.Children form positive relationships with each other. They seek each other out to play with.

For example, outdoors, children pretend to be a family and act out roles of parents, siblings and babies. Children form their own open groups based on current interests, such as 'Harry Potter', and recall parts of stories they know.Children's behaviour is consistently good.

They understand staff's expectations and are familiar with the rules and boundaries in place. Children share and take turns during activities. For example, they share toy diggers they have brought in from home with their friends, when playing in the sand outdoors.

Children are consistently kind and courteous towards each other, staff and visitors.Children's health and well-being are well supported. They benefit from continuous access to the outdoor environment, where they gain fresh air and exercise.

Children enjoy a varied and balanced snack and choose from a range of fruit and vegetables, such as orange, apple or carrot.Children become independent within the club as they carry out tasks for themselves. As they arrive, they put their belongings away, wash their own hands before snack and know where their water bottle belongs.

Children make choices about what they want to play with and talk to staff when they want to play with something new, which staff happily provide for them.Staff are kind and attentive to children. When children sustain an injury, they provide treatment immediately and give comfort and reassurance throughout.

Staff complete the required records for accidents and share information with parents at the end of their session. This helps to ensure children's safety and well-being at home.Parents and children speak very positively about the club.

Children enjoy attending and form secure relationships with staff. Parents comment that the club is highly valued and appreciate the communication from staff about their child's day. They praise that staff support children's learning even further as children take books home from the club to share.

The experienced staff team comment that they feel well supported by their colleagues and managers. Staff and managers communicate with each other daily and managers are always available to share any concerns with. Staff have access to frequent training courses to continually improve their practice, knowledge, and skills.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff and managers complete regular child protection training, which ensures that they maintain a comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding issues. Staff are alert to signs which could indicate that a child is at risk of possible abuse or harm.

They know the procedures to follow to report their concerns to managers or other professionals. Staff and managers understand what action to take if a conduct concern is raised about a member of staff. The manager carries out initial and ongoing suitability checks on all staff to assess their continued suitability to work with children.
