Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is an outstanding school Grosvenor Nursery School continues to provide children with an excellent start to their education. This is the third consecutive time that the school has been judged to be outstanding.

This is a noteworthy achievement. The new headteacher leads by example. She is relentless in her efforts to ensure that children get the very best start to their education.

Her staff team ably support her in this quest. All groups of children, including the most able and those who are disadvantaged, make rapid gains in their learning. This is the result of high-quality teaching and staff's excellent knowledge of each child's individual needs.
...r/>Children in the newly opened resourced base provision are provided with very good levels of care and attention. Children are offered an enormous range of activities, which stimulate their curiosity and capture their imagination. Outdoor learning is promoted particularly well.

Children behave exceptionally well because : they are totally absorbed in what they are doing. They play remarkably well together. Parents are delighted at how quickly their children settle and enjoy coming to nursery.

Although non-statutory, attendance rates are high, which reflects children's enjoyment of school. However, a very small number of parents are more reluctant to send their children to school on a regular basis. Keeping children safe is top of the school's list of priorities.

Children feel safe and the school successfully teaches them how to keep themselves safe. All parents are highly supportive of the school. Many speak about the 'remarkable' progress that their children make and about the 'dedication' and 'approachability' of the staff team.

There is no doubt that governors want the very best for the school. No-one can question their dedication and commitment. They have supported, and continue to support, the school well through some challenging times.

A watchful eye is kept on the quality of teaching. However, the headteacher has recognised that teachers could plan activities with even more precision if feedback after lesson observations included information about pupil groups. There is strong capacity within the school to sustain this outstanding judgement and an enthusiasm to do so.
