Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good • The manager and staff have made positive changes to address the actions from the last inspection. The manager has supported staff to enhance their skills and knowledge to improve the way they plan for children's needs and interests.

Staff now make accurate assessments of children's learning and plan challenging activities that extend children's skills. Children make good progress. • The manager and chairperson work closely together to evaluate and enhance the provision.

They have used money from a grant to renovate the indoor play room, so it has underfloor heating and accessible storage units. Children make decisions about what and how they want... to play. They develop good self-esteem and confidence, and are well motivated to learn.

• Key persons know children thoroughly and monitor children's progress well from the start. They rapidly identify when there are gaps in children's learning and put in extra support to help them. All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make good progress in their learning.

• The staff and committee encourage parents to be involved in all aspects of their children's care and learning. For example, staff regularly share what children need to learn next with parents and provide books for parents to read with children at home, and the committee puts on training, such as first-aid courses, for them. Children benefit from consistent experiences and develop well.

• On occasion, staff do not organise group times or changes in routine well enough. For example, when going outdoors, children become bored and restless waiting for others to put their coats on. • At times, staff interrupt children's self-chosen play and suggest new activities instead of giving children the time that they need to finish what they are doing first.
