Summary of key findings for parents
This provision is outstanding The manager and her staff have high expectations of what children can achieve. They teach children to play safely, respect their environment, recognise their emotions and to develop their own ideas. Children are extremely confident, independent and respond exceptionally well to the trust staff have in their capabilities. The manager has created a fantastic learning environment throughout, which provides children with a wealth of opportunities to explore, create and discover. Staff give a lot of thought to how effectively the environment supports different groups of children. Parents comment that their children form close attachments to their key person, settle quickly and benefit from a pre-start home visit from staff. They say their children are very keen to come to the nursery and make excellent progress, especially in speaking. The manager has a clear vision for the nursery and constantly evaluates and reflects on how it could be even better for children. She is extremely knowledgeable and encourages her staff to contribute their ideas and develop their skills through training. This happy, positive environment is reflected in children’s cheerful, have-a-go attitude. Children are encouraged to show gratitude and begin to show empathy. They develop a sense of responsibility as they care for the chickens wandering freely in the garden. Children develop a strong sense of community. They get to know school staff, local shopkeepers and they visit community groups. For example, they performed Christmas songs at a public event to mark the village Christmas lights being switched on.
