What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are content during their time at the club.

They form strong friendships and enjoy one another's company as they take part in crafts and games. This helps them to be creative and build on their social and physical skills. Children are kind and sensitive to each other.

Staff have high expectations for children's behaviour. Children are patient and listen to one another's views and opinions. They demonstrate respectful and polite behaviour towards each other and adults.

Children work their way up the behaviour chart to become a 'star' and earn a treat.Children develop their small-muscle skills. They make han...d prints with paint and cut them out using scissors to create bird pictures.

Children choose from materials available to finish their creations. Children fix train tracks together. They move trains and other vehicles across tables.

Children develop communication and language skills as they talk to staff and each other. They discuss visits to London and recall things they have seen, such as the London Eye and red buses. Children play favourite games.

They develop counting skills as they count how many coloured pieces they have in a row.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The leaders have worked hard to improve their knowledge and implement changes since the last inspection. They provide the manager and staff with ongoing support and supervision to help develop their practice further.

Staff focus on the views and interests of children when they plan activities. For example, children can share their ideas by posting them in a suggestion box.Staff gather information about children's needs when they join the club.

Children complete an 'All About Me' form. This gives staff information about children's likes and interests, so they can plan activities children will enjoy. Staff get to know children very well.

They provide extra support for the youngest children, or those who lack confidence. This helps to ensure that children are emotionally secure.Staff set out activities ready for children's arrival at the club.

They adapt their levels of support and expectations according to each child's age and stage of development. Staff join in with children's games and provide plenty of praise and encouragement. As a result, children develop confidence and self-esteem.

Children demonstrate good levels of independence. They choose their own activities, meet their personal care needs, and collect their own belongings at the end of the session. Staff promote mathematical skills using routines, such as snack time.

Children know they can choose four items from the snacks on offer. They then have to calculate how many they have chosen and how many more they can select.Staff support children's physical development well.

Children particularly enjoy being physically active outdoors. Younger children learn how to play football. They have great fun as they play with close support from older children.

All children share in each other's achievements when they cheer as they score a goal.Children are good communicators. They are confident to interact with unfamiliar people.

Children talk to visitors about the club. They show what they have made and talk about what they are doing.Staff support children to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Children all sanitise their hands as they arrive at the club and wash their hands before snack times. Snacks are provided which cater to all children's individual dietary needs.Children have access to a large play area outside, where they run and play with balls.

Children learn the importance of being healthy and active. However, there are no areas within the club where children can comfortably rest and relax after a busy day at school.Children's behaviour is very good.

They are respectful of their friends and of the staff. All children are kind and caring towards each other. They share resources and take turns well.

Staff work in partnership with the teaching staff in the host school and with parents. There is a good exchange of information to help complement and build on children's prior learning. Daily handovers between staff, teachers and parents help exchange information about children's needs.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Leaders and staff are aware of their role to help keep children safe. Staff can identify the signs and symptoms that may be indicators children are at risk.

They are aware of the procedures to follow and the outside agencies they should report concerns to if required. The leaders have implemented a sound recruitment procedure to help ensure all staff are suitable to work with children. Staff carry out daily risk assessments to ensure children are provided with a safe and secure environment to play and learn in.
