What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children arrive excited and eager to see their friends. They are warmly greeted by staff, who know them well and put them at the heart of this club. All children demonstrate that they are very happy and secure.

Staff set up a very attractive space for children to explore. They use what they know about children's needs and interests to plan highly interesting and motivating activities and opportunities for children to engage in. For example, children become engrossed in creating their own 'space character models' out of tubes with adults who supported them expertly.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilitie...s (SEND) are exceptionally well cared for.Staff are very good role models. They praise children and celebrate their achievements.

Children want to share with adults what they have made, eagerly showing off their paper models of ships, such as The Titanic. Staff delight in playing alongside children. They talk to them, showing genuine interest in what they say and do.

Children display very high levels of confidence and self-esteem. They are very eager to explain their roles as club representatives and how their ideas are used to develop the club. Children's behaviour is excellent.

They show high levels of respect for adults and each other. Older children help younger children to set up the snack table together.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Leaders and managers are passionate about supporting their children and their families.

It is clear that they put them at the heart of what they do. All staff work exceptionally well together. They are continually reflective of their practice and ensure they adapt provision to meet the needs of all of the children attending.

For example, after seeking children's views, staff have created a quiet area for rest and relaxation. Children also enjoy more opportunities to play sports outside with adults, such as football.Parents talk highly of the club.

They particularly reference the caring nature of all of the staff. They say how flexible and adaptable the staff are. They state that they have seen their children progress in their confidence and social skills.

Children say they 'love the club' and attend even when it is not their scheduled day. Parents say how inclusive the club is and how their children have benefitted from playing with different ages of children.Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are very well supported.

Staff encourage them and play alongside them expertly. Children benefit from their individual needs and interests being met. For example, staff support interactions and communication with other children during imaginary play, such as with small imaginary figures.

Staff plan an environment which caters very well for the different needs and interests of children. They provide activities and opportunities which are challenging and support children's learning at school. For example, staff discuss with children making pizzas for a birthday celebration shortly.

They fully involve the children in the planning process, asking for their input and ideas. Children delight in their roles as club representatives. They talk animatedly about the new resources they requested and their 'wish lists'.

They are listened to very well.Staff talk about the very good support that they receive from leaders and managers. They work closely with their other settings to develop staff's knowledge and skills and to share information.

They provide opportunities for staff to gain further qualifications and ensure all staff are fully involved in training opportunities to ensure their practice is fully developed. All staff have first-aid training and they are developing a 'gratitude tree' to recognise further acts of kindness.Children's independence is highly supported.

For instance, children set up their own snack time, putting a cloth on the table together and bringing over cups, plates and cutlery. They work together exceptionally well. When finished, they clear away their things and clean the table.

Younger children are very well supported by older children. They delight in talking together about their weekend plans.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

The club has very effective processes and procedures for safeguarding. All staff attend regular safeguarding training and are confident to identify signs and symptoms of abuse. They know what to do if they are concerned about a child or if they had concerns about a colleague.

They know how to report safeguarding concerns effectively. The premises are safe and secure. Leaders and managers ensure all staff have appropriate first-aid training.

They have effective procedures in place for recruitment, vetting and checking the ongoing suitability of staff. Children are encouraged to keep themselves safe. They are involved in regular fire evacuation practices.
