This provision meets requirements Children arrive happy and excited at this welcoming club. They choose from a range of different activities. The children interact well with staff and each other, building new friendships with children of different ages.

Older children enjoy supporting younger children and show kindness towards them. Staff consider children's individual needs when planning and provide support in specific areas.Children are highly engaged in their play and develop their imaginations by dressing up and making up their own games.

Children listen to staff and follow instructions, they understand the routine of the club and behave well. Consiste...ncy between the school and the club ensures that children understand what is expected of them. Children receive encouragement to talk about their school day and interests and staff use this to support children to decide about activities.

For example, children explain they are learning about planets in class then went on to build a solar system at the club. They are proud to show their achievements to the staff.Staff have clear expectations of the children and support them in their play.

They make good use of opportunities to communicate with children and encourage them to answer questions that make them think. Staff encourage the children to be independent and to look after their space. For example, children are given opportunities to serve their tea and help to keep their areas tidy.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The owner is passionate about the club and strives to provide inclusive care for the children from this school. She works closely with the manager and staff to create a safe and exciting environment for the children. She supports the manager and staff to enhance their skills through training opportunities.

Staff communicate effectively with children and recognise their individual needs. Activities meet the needs of the different age groups and, along with staff, children support each other during play. For example, at a play dough activity, children of different ages come up with ideas together on what they are going to make.

Older children listen well to the younger children and give them ideas on how to further their ideas.Staff provide opportunities for children to be creative and provide a range of materials that they can choose from. This gives the children the opportunity to sit quietly and colour or draw if they choose.

Staff build strong partnerships with the school. They work together with the headteacher and class teachers to ensure consistency for the children. Staff share information about any identified additional needs and ensure support is put in place for them.

The manager encourages the staff to share observations and information about the children. This helps to ensure the smooth running of the club. The manager evaluates the club through parent and children feedback forms and uses this information to ensure all needs are being met.

Parents praise the club and report that children are happy and excited to attend. They feel their children's confidence has grown since attending and appreciate good communication and support from the owner, manager and staff. They comment that the staff team is warm and caring and know the children very well.

Parents are happy with the range of activities available, and comment that children especially enjoy the outdoor space.Staff provide children with freshly cooked meals for their tea and, where possible, encourage children to self-serve. They sit nicely at the table and receive support from the staff, as needed.

Children clear away when they have finished and prepare for a disco. Staff and children enjoy this active time at the end of the day and all join in enthusiastically, dancing and copying routines from the videos.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

The owner ensures all staff have up-to-date safeguarding training. The owner, manager and staff have secure knowledge of their roles in regard to keeping children safe. They are able to recognise signs that may indicate a child is at risk of harm or abuse and know the procedures to follow when reporting concerns.

The staff are first-aid trained and understand the procedures in place for dealing with accidents. The club is situated within the school site and staff monitor who enters the area and ensure they minimise risks to children. Staff deploy themselves effectively, which ensures the close supervision of the children.
