Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school The headteacher and deputy headteacher provide highly effective leadership.

They give a clear lead on school improvement and are well supported by middle leaders and governors. Since the previous inspection teaching, learning and assessment together with outcomes for pupils have improved and are now good. The quality of teaching has improved because of rigorous monitoring, timely support and effective training for all staff.

Teachers have high expectations. They provide tasks and activities in lessons that interest, challenge and motivate pupils to learn well. Groups of pupils are making good progress this academic year, including those w...ho have special educational needs and/or disabilities, disadvantaged pupils, and the most able pupils.

Pupils study a broad range of subjects through interesting topics that fire their imagination. This contributes strongly to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and prepares them well for life in modern Britain. Pupils' behaviour in lessons and around the school is outstanding.

They have excellent attitudes to learning and are keen to succeed. They are extremely polite and courteous to one another and adults. The school provides a safe and secure environment where pupils recognise that everyone has their welfare at heart.

Pupils are very happy at school. Governors have made sure that they have the levels of skill and knowledge required to be effective. Consequently, governors challenge leaders and successfully hold them to account.

Children in the early years are taught and supported well. They make good progress from their starting points. The most able pupils are not consistently challenged with really demanding work.

Occasionally teachers do not use the correct mathematical vocabulary when explaining new ideas in mathematics. The requirements for publishing information about the sports funding on the school website are not fully met.

Since the previous inspection there have been a number of changes in staff, including the leadership of the school.
