This is a good school The headteacher has recruited and developed a stable and dynamic leadership team. Together, they have rapidly improved standards in the school.

Leaders and governors understand accurately the strengths and weaknesses of the school. Actions to improve the school contribute to pupils' high level of achievement. Pupils achieve well in mathematics because : they have a secure understanding of the methods used for calculation.

Pupils use their skills to solve challenging problems. Pupils, including those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities, make rapid progress in reading. Pupils read regularly for pleasure and access the sch...ool library often.

Governors are analytical and skilled. They challenge leaders to improve outcomes for pupils and check the performance of the school regularly. The behaviour of pupils is outstanding.

In lessons, pupils show pride and enthusiasm for their work. They persevere with difficult tasks and enjoy challenge. Teachers and teaching assistants understand the needs of their pupils.

As a result, they plan work that closely matches pupils' needs and respond rapidly to support pupils who fall behind. Staff at all levels have a clear understanding of the potential risks to pupils. As a result, pupils at risk of harm are identified and supported swiftly.

Standards in writing are improving. Nevertheless, pupils' writing in a range of other subjects, including science, is weaker than pupils' writing in English. Disadvantaged pupils make good progress and are catching up with their peers.
