Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school The executive headteacher provides strong leadership for the school. The hard federation with Warren Junior School offers strong capacity for future improvement. Leaders, including governors, have a realistic understanding of the school's strengths and areas for development.

Pupils' attainment at the end of key stage 1 is above the national average in reading, writing and mathematics. Children make good progress in early years, and attainment is higher than the national average at the end of Reception Year. Phonics is taught well and pupils attain highly in the Year 1 phonics screening check.

Disadvantaged pupils and pupils with special e...ducational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) make strong progress from their starting points. Behaviour is outstanding and pupils report that they feel safe and well cared for. Pupils show respect and consideration to the needs of others.

Differences are respected, and the diversity of the local community is celebrated. Teaching is good, but there is still some variability, which affects pupils' outcomes. Opportunities for children to write independently in early years are limited.

Attendance is improving and is in line with the national average.

The proportion of pupils with SEND is in line with that in most schools nationally.
