This is a good school The headteacher is well respected by pupils, parents and staff. She has an accurate view of the strengths and areas for development within the school. The school is improving.

Governors and staff share a common ambition to improve outcomes for pupils continuously. Teachers throughout the school use their good subject knowledge to plan lessons which make the most of learning opportunities. Pupils' attendance is in line with the national average overall.

The attendance for disadvantaged pupils is beginning to improve. Pupils make slower progress in mathematics than they do in reading and writing. Pupils' personal development, behaviour and ...welfare is a strength of the school.

Leaders have established positive relationships throughout the school. Leaders regularly review the quality of teaching, providing effective professional development for all teachers. As a result, better teaching is leading to improved outcomes for pupils.

The progress that disadvantaged pupils make varies too much between classes. Leaders ensure that pupils have access to a broad curriculum which engages their interests. Their learning is enhanced by a wide range of curriculum enrichment opportunities.

Pupils behave well, participate willingly in their lessons and feel safe at school. They appreciate the high-quality pastoral care they receive and the positive relationships they share with adults and each other. Pupils enjoy many friendships and play well together on the playground.

Pupils share their ideas well to promote each other's learning in class. They are becoming self-assured learners who are prepared well for the next stage of their education. Pupils are articulate and speak highly of their school.

Well-established routines mean that pupils move around the school calmly and safely. In some classes, additional adults are deployed effectively to support learning for pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities.
