Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school The headteacher, senior leaders and the governing body have established a strong ethos at the school. They put into practice the school's aims to create a safe, calm and stimulating environment that builds the pupils' confidence as learners and teaches them to respect each other.

These and other important characteristics are promoted successfully through the school's well-conceived approach to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the pupils and to teaching them about fundamental British values. The pupils behave well, demonstrate good manners, and feel safe at the school. The school's creative approach to the curriculum leads t...o the pupils learning about subjects and topics in ways that capture their interest.

Combined with teaching that generally provides the pupils with work at a suitable level, the curriculum supports the pupils in making good progress. Subsequently, the standards of attainment reached by the pupils are consistently above average by the end of key stage 1. The pupils have not been given enough opportunities to acquire and to demonstrate the skills required for them to achieve greater depth in their learning in reading, writing and mathematics.

The children make good progress in the early years. The proportion of children reaching a good level of development by the end of the early years is consistently above average. The school's assessments of children in the early years as exceeding the expected levels in their learning are not always accurate.
