Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school Following a dip after the school's previous inspection, outcomes and teaching are now improving. Leaders have secured improvements in the quality of teaching through close checks on pupils' progress and training for teachers that meets their individual needs. From their different starting points, pupils make good progress in reading, writing and mathematics.

They enjoy their learning and develop skills necessary for their next stage of education. Changes introduced to teaching reading, writing and mathematics are having a positive impact across both key stages. New approaches are having a strong impact on pupils' learning as a result.

Han...dwriting, however, is not always fluent and legible. Minor weaknesses remain in teaching. Most-able pupils do not make as much progress as they can because the work they are given does not always challenge them.

In addition, pupils are not given sufficient opportunities to write independently or at length in different subjects. The curriculum is interesting and engaging. Pupils' work shows that they work hard in all the subjects they study.

Pupils behave well in and around school. They are polite and well mannered to adults and each other. Relationships are highly positive throughout the school.

Pupils trust their teachers and other adults. As a result, pupils feel safe. Teaching in English and mathematics builds logically on pupils' previous learning.

The curriculum includes a broad range of other subjects, but in some, the coverage does not go into sufficient depth. Disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported well to make good or better progress. Children get off to a good start in early years.

Effective teaching and leadership ensure that children make good progress.
