Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

The headteacher, ably supported by other senior leaders, has established a culture of high expectations at the school and has ensured that teaching is good and pupils learn well. The school's work to promote pupils' personal development and welfare is outstanding.

Pupils quickly learn how to become successful learners and how to develop positive relationships with their classmates and the adults who teach them. Pupils' behaviour is outstanding. They behave exceptionally well in lessons and at playtimes.

They look after each other extremely well and are exceptionally polite and well mannered. Children get off to a good start in the early years. Teaching is good...; children feel safe and they learn happily alongside each other, quickly developing very positive attitudes to learning.

The teaching of reading is a particular strength of the school. As a result, pupils quickly develop a good understanding of phonics and develop the skills necessary to become successful readers and writers. Improvements have been made to the teaching of mathematics.

Teachers regularly provide opportunities for pupils to use and apply their knowledge of mathematics to investigate and solve problems. As a result, pupils enjoy mathematics and are making good progress in their learning. The school makes excellent use of technology to support and enhance teaching and learning.

Pupils are confident users of digital media, and learning is regularly enhanced through the effective use of this technology. The governing body knows the school well and provides good levels of support and challenge to school leaders..

Pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities make good progress. Effective systems are in place to support these pupils and ensure that they make the best possible progress. In some year groups, the quality of teaching in science, geography and history is not as good as it should be and pupils' learning is limited as a result.
