Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones is a bilingual community school for pupils aged between 11 and 18, which is maintained by Anglesey local authority.

There are 509 pupils on roll with 75 pupils in the sixth form. During the last inspection, there were 647 pupils on roll with 113 pupils in the sixth form. The school serves a catchment area of about 53 square miles to the north east from Traeth Coch on the east coast of Anglesey, through Brynteg, Llanerchymedd and Mynydd Mechell to Cemlyn Bay on the north west coast.

Approximately 15.2% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, which is lower than the national figure of 16.4%.

The school has 24% of pupils on its special educational needs register, which is higher than the ...national average. The percentage of pupils with a statement of special educational needs is 2%, which is also very close to the national average.
