What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children settle exceptionally well in the setting. They confidently share ideas and suggestions with other children and staff as they build and develop friendship groups. Children are encouraged to use their imagination as they look for and discuss different types of flowers.

Staff encourage them to think about how they look and how they might smell and to share this with their friends.Children behave extremely well. Staff are excellent role models for children's behaviour and they consistently promote the rules of the club.

This helps children to understand what is expected of them. Children show their clear understanding... of this as they remind each other to keep their hockey sticks on the ground, so not to cause an injury to someone else.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The manager and staff within the setting provide children with high-quality activities that promote their understanding of risks and how to stay safe.

For instance, during 'motor sport' activities, children understand the need to wear their protective clothing. They complete a safety lap with the staff to ensure they are confident in using the equipment safely. Additionally, there are robust risk assessments and supervision arrangements in place that ensure children's safety and well-being while taking part in swimming activities.

The setting provides children with access to a significant range of resources and experiences that they may not have outside of the camp. This includes activities such as archery and fencing. There are, however, some occasions where children do not have the resources they need to effectively take part in some of the smaller scale activities.

For example, during some mark-making activities children only have one pen or pencil to use.Staff demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm and support for children who are new to the setting or less confident to join in activities. They allow children time to take in their surroundings and observe activities as they happen, while regularly checking in with them and offering opportunities to join in.

Children grow in confidence and begin to freely explore and join in with the activities on offer.Children of all ages and abilities are effectively supported and encouraged to join in with all aspects of the very full and exciting timetable of events. Staff recognise where they need to adapt activities to support the inclusion of all children.

They do this extremely well. For example, staff create additional resources, such as visual aids, and use a range of gestures to ensure that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are able to fully engage in each opportunity.Parents speak very highly of the setting.

They are very happy with the range of activities available to their children. Parents comment how well the managers and staff communicate with them when they register at the setting and the wealth of information the receive before their children start. As a result of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, parents do not currently enter the setting.

However, they do not feel that this has had an impact on the information they receive or their interaction with the staff team. The leadership and management of the setting is highly effective. The management team have a sound knowledge of how to support the well-being and professional development of staff.

Recruitment processes are meticulously implemented to ensure staff have the relevant training and expertise to deliver the scheduled activities.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The management team ensure staff are fully trained and supported to recognise when children may be at risk of harm.

Staff are confident in their understanding of this and the action they would take to keep children safe. This includes where children may be at exposed to extremist views or drawn into gang-related activities. The organisation has a specific team that ensures the safe recruitment and induction of staff for each setting.
