What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is outstanding

Children are offered an inspiring range of activities that quickly capture their interest and help them develop a positive attitude to learning.

They are extremely confident and keen, and display a 'can do' attitude. Young children listen attentively and watch with fascination as staff play a musical instrument. Staff extend their learning and invite them to touch the instrument and inspect what is inside the case.

Babies use their senses in exploratory play. They delight in splashing water and use their fingers to explore foam. Staff sit alongside and offer lots of support and encouragement.

Older chil...dren immerse themselves in imaginary play. They recall experiences from home as they pretend to go on holiday. Children 'check in' at the airport and pretend to weigh their luggage, before boarding an aeroplane.

Staff are highly skilled in supporting children's mathematical development. Children identify shapes, such as a square, and compare this to a rectangle. Children are beginning to understand the value of numbers.

They count the dots on a dice and link these to numerals. Staff make learning fun. They suggest children position themselves in order relating to the number cards they hold.

Children excitedly make a number line. Staff support children to develop a love of books. They use different tones and animated voices as they read to children throughout the day.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The nursery has a warm and caring ethos. Children are placed securely at the heart of staff practice. Excellent settling-in procedures support children to feel secure when they first begin to attend and when they move between rooms.

Children are very happy. They have exceptionally secure and trusting relationships with the kind and caring staff, who are responsive to their individual needs. Children develop a strong sense of belonging.

The experienced and dedicated management team do their utmost to deliver high-quality, inclusive care and education to all. They lead a staff team who are highly motivated and enthusiastic, and always strive for excellence. The management team meets regularly with staff to identify training requirements, which are highly personalised according to their needs and interests.

They spend time ensuring any personal or professional issues are identified. Staff report high levels of support for their well-being.Staff have an excellent knowledge of the curriculum.

They know children extremely well. Staff make regular assessments of what children know and can do. They make highly effective use of these to plan meticulously for children's individual needs and interests.

Staff provide innovative play experiences to help children develop a deep understanding of diversity within their community and an awareness of what makes them unique.Children develop exceptional language and communication skills as they take part in small group activities. Staff lead a game to encourage children to use descriptive language.

They model language using words such as 'curly tail' and 'pointy ears'. They introduce an alternative word for nose, such as 'snout', and mimic the sounds that pigs make.Staff support children's personal care extremely well.

They are sensitive and show care and consideration towards each child. The nursery provides freshly prepared nutritious meals and snacks. Babies sleep peacefully in comfortable surroundings.

All children enjoy quiet time after lunch; even those who do not sleep can relax in the quiet room, where they choose a pillow and snuggle down for some relaxation.There is a strong focus on play and learning in the stimulating outdoor area. Considerate staff organise the environment so that children can move freely between inside and outside.

Children flourish and thoroughly enjoy time spent outdoors. They learn about space and measure as they excitedly fill and empty different sized containers with sand and water. Children pretend to cook in the outdoor kitchen.

They learn to safely ride on toys and to climb small trees.Children's behaviour is exemplary. They display high levels of respect for staff and each other.

Children demonstrate their understanding of nursery rules. They remind their peers to look after the toys and to be careful when turning the pages of books.Partnerships with parents, other providers and professionals are highly effective.

Information about children is shared in a wide range of ways. Parents advise that they could not be happier with the care and education their children receive.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

Staff have an excellent knowledge of safeguarding procedures. They carry out safety checks on all areas of the nursery throughout the day to ensure that children play in a secure and safe environment. Staff are highly proactive in protecting children from harm and know exactly what to do should they have concerns about a child's safety.

Staff keep their knowledge up to date by regularly attending training. A secure entry system is in place, which is carefully monitored by reception staff. Robust recruitment and induction procedures ensure staff are suitable for their roles and understand their responsibilities.
