This provision is outstanding Children are exceptionally motivated and eager to learn. They make excellent progress in relation to their starting points and are keen to start the next stage in their learning, such as going to school. Staff encourage all children to lead their own learning.

Staff working with the older children record their questions on paper and use these as the basis for their planning. Staff develop interesting and stimulating activities that build on children's questions, which helps to spark children's curiosity and extend their learning. Partnerships with other settings, schools and professionals are constantly built on.

Staff communicate frequently... with teachers and staff at other settings that children also attend to provide high levels of continuity in their learning and development. The manager goes to great lengths to help develop and extend staff's knowledge and practice. She is highly reflective and encourages staff to regularly review their own practice as well as identify further improvements within their base rooms.

Children understand and recognise the differences between themselves and others. They are caring, considerate and show concern when their friends are sad. Older children exchange letters with children in a nursery abroad.
