What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is outstanding

Children are highly confident, independent and motivated learners. The curriculum expertly aims to ensure children have a wide range of exciting opportunities that skilfully prepare them for their next stages in learning. Staff have high expectations for all children.

They provide children with continuous support and praise for their achievements, enabling children to build confidence and self-esteem. For example, older children make paper chain people. Staff expertly expand this to enable children to learn about feelings as children draw faces to match their emotions.

In addition, children count the people, com...pare the differences and independently write their names. Children thoroughly enjoy their day at nursery. They form exceptional relationships with the staff who look after them and the other children.

Throughout the nursery, there is an extremely relaxed, homely and calm atmosphere. Children's behaviour is exemplary. Children take part in a range of activities that link to their interests and individual stages of development.

For example, children explored a fabulous 'imagination station', learning about natural resources and wildlife while using a favourite story about owls. Children are inquisitive learners and enjoy working together. For example, older children worked together to break and melt large blocks of ice to reveal what had been hidden inside.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The provider, manager and staff team are exceptionally passionate about their roles in supporting children's learning and development. Staff provide children with extremely rich educational experiences across all areas of the curriculum. The quality of teaching is exemplary.

For example, a simple interest in eggs prompts the staff to boil them for the children to make their own sandwiches. Children eagerly rise to challenges and concentrate for long periods of time as they persevere with peeling the shells. This is then extended to enable children to mash the eggs and add mayonnaise as they discuss the benefits of eating eggs.

For example, they talk about protein and how this is good for their growth.Staff seize every opportunity to extend children's learning to ensure that every child makes the best possible progress. Staff monitor children's progress meticulously and act promptly to identify weaker areas in children's learning and development.

Partnership working with parents is excellent. Staff share daily information with parents via the online communication system and through discussions and conversations. Parents express their utmost satisfaction with the nursery.

They describe how settled and happy their children are. Parents say the staff are 'fantastic' and 'go above and beyond'. Additional funding is used exceedingly well to benefit individual children in their learning and development.

Outstanding procedures are followed by the caring and passionate staff team to support children's transition in and out of the setting. This promotes children's emotional well-being. For example, staff provide extended settling-in sessions to help children quickly feel secure.

Parents and key persons help to settle children when they change rooms within the nursery, and staff prepare older children remarkably well when they move to school.Leaders promote an outstanding culture of continuous improvement. They monitor staff performance and continuous improvement with their team.

Leaders provide exceptional support to staff, organising training to enhance their skills and knowledge. They act with integrity to further promote staff's well-being.Children learn to lead very healthy lives at the nursery.

They have daily access to a well-resourced outside play area that staff take advantage of in all weathers. Children enjoy appetising and nutritious meals, freshly prepared by the nursery cook. Children are gently reminded to drink water throughout the day to ensure they do not become thirsty, and they discuss healthy eating options such as eating lots of fruit and vegetables.

Children's communication and speaking skills are richly developed. Staff help babies to express their feelings and preferences. For instance, they consistently smile, look the babies in the eye and talk gently and clearly.

Staff repeat the sounds babies utter and develop them into words and phrases. Staff take every opportunity to model and enhance older children's vocabulary. For example, they learn new words such as 'membrane' while peeling boiled eggs.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.The provider, manager and staff have an excellent understanding of child protection issues. They are familiar with the procedure to take prompt and efficient action should they have any concerns about children's welfare.

Staff are confident with the whistle-blowing policy and procedures for reporting allegations. They supervise children well and ensure a safe environment is maintained for the children. Staff have a very good understanding of the signs that may indicate a child may be at risk of harm, including from radical and extreme views.
