This provision is good • Staff provide a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment where young children and babies can play safely. Staff have a superb understanding about how children learn and develop.

Children benefit exceptionally well from the large clear floor space, which enables them to move around freely. Staff have carefully considered the lay out of the room to inspire young children and babies to access the resources to help develop their emerging independence skills. • The key-person system works exceptionally well.

Staff support children exceptionally well as they settle into the nursery. They individualise and use flexible settling-in sessions in a highly ...positive way. This enables them to work extremely closely with the mothers to help support them with their child's care and development.

Children are extremely secure. Young children establish exceptionally strong attachments to the caring, sensitive staff. • Children make good progress relative to their starting points.

The staff carry out sensitive observations and assessments to help them track children's progress effectively. They identify children's next steps clearly and through regular conversations with mothers enable them to contribute to help their child progress effectively. • The manager monitors the quality of teaching well.

Regular supervision monitors staff performance and any training needs are identified. Staff recognise the importance of maintaining their professional development and have good opportunities to attend courses, to extend their already good knowledge. • At times, young children and babies do not have everyday opportunities to explore, investigate and experiment with a wide range of sensory materials to enhance their learning even further.
