Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good • Staff offer a welcoming and nurturing learning environment. Children self-register when they arrive at the nursery and greet each other and staff. They develop a good sense of belonging and self-worth.

Their behaviour is generally good. • Staff know how children learn and develop through play. When identifying gaps in children's learning, staff provide good support to help children catch up.

Children make good progress in relation to their individual starting points. They are well prepared for the next stages in their learning and development, including the move on to school. • Staff introduce children to books.

Children keenly talk abou...t their favourite pictures and characters. Older children can act out their favourite events, using the language of books. • Partnerships with parents, providers and external agencies are well established and make a strong contribution to meeting the children's learning needs.

• Managers monitor and evaluate the quality of the provision to help ensure that children receive consistently good-quality care and teaching. • Occasionally, staff do not provide enough challenges to fully extend children's mathematical skills and help children learn how to solve problems independently. • Staff do not consistently offer many experiences to extend and build on children's understanding and skills in using everyday technology.
