What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are safe, happy, and well cared for. They cheerfully chat with friends and staff as they confidently arrive at the club. Children know about new routines in place due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic arrangements and consistently follow them.

They understand the importance of keeping within the 'bubble' groups they have in school and know the importance of keeping everyone safe.Children have many opportunities to enjoy a wide variety of activities, both indoors and outside. They understand and follow the current amended arrangements for choosing activities and ask staff for their chosen item.

Children form p...ositive and trusting relationships with staff. They confidently share their views, ask for help and include staff in their activities. For example, children initiate word games and enjoy staff joining in and being part of this.

Outdoors, children are completely engaged, excitedly running up and down creating bubbles, catching and popping these. They learn how to make extremely long bubbles and squeal with delight when they accomplish this.Children enjoy snack time.

This is a social event where they chat with each other and staff, sharing news about their day and what they are going to do on holiday. They eagerly talk about places and family they will visit during their summer holidays.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Children behave well at the club.

They are kind and helpful to others, sharing their ideas when completing activities. Staff build effective relationships with children and are good role models. They give reassurance and praise children and always demonstrate good manners towards children and other adults.

Staff create a welcoming and friendly environment. They take time to talk with the children at the beginning of the session, ask about their interests and ideas and use the information to plan further activities. For example, they share ideas about making a seashell necklace or using the hammer beads.

Children are interested in a new plaster mould painting activity that the manager has brought in.Children's health needs are met well. A nourishing and nutritious range of snacks is provided, taking specific account of dietary requirements.

Staff ensure good hygiene practices are followed to minimise the spread of infection between children, such as regular handwashing. Outdoor activities are part of the daily routine, which enable children to benefit from fresh air and exercise after their busy school day.Staff supervise play well and encourage children's curiosity and conversation.

Children's ideas are consistently valued, and they feel confident to try these. They remind staff how they used tennis rackets as fans to create some air on a hot day. Children work out how to make fans from paper, using these to help keep themselves cool indoors.

Staff build good relationships with the school. They share information about the events of the day and what they know about children's welfare needs. They work together to provide continuity of support and to help children feel safe and cared for.

Parents speak highly of the club. They comment on the friendly approach of staff and how much their children enjoy attending here. They are pleased with the communication and how information is shared about their child.

They value the feedback provided by staff about children's daily experiences. Staff use information gathered from parents, through questionnaires, to highlight possible areas of development.Staff performance is monitored through regular supervisions.

Any areas for development are quickly established and suitable face-to-face or online training is planned. Quality checks are regularly carried out to ensure the club consistently offers high-quality care within the setting.
