What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements As children arrive at the out-of-school club, there is high energy. They hurry to hang their coats up and rush to the snack table. Children help each other to butter bread for their sandwiches.

They choose what filling they will have. Children are very comfortable and enjoy talking to their friends as they finish their snack. Children are excited to find the toys and enjoy playing with cars, games and dolls.

Older children play a game of 'rock, paper, scissors' with staff to decide who will go first at a game of pool. Staff help children to set up a game of monopoly as children laugh. There is a new library area, and child...ren take their shoes off to sit on the carpet while reading stories.

They write each other notes in the quiet space.There is hustle and bustle at the out-of-school club, and children excitedly join in with a group activity using the dough. They create their own designs, such as ice cream, model people and letters of their name.

Children talk with their friends, showing them what they have made. Other children talk to staff, telling them about their day and weekend. Children are very comfortable and contented at the out-of-school club.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Children are very well behaved. Staff are great role models and show respect and support towards them. They create a set of rules, and all children follow these well.

Children support each other and prompt each other to demonstrate good manners.Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are fully included. Staff make adaptations to ensure all children are comfortable and can take part in their own way.

Staff are excited when they see progress in children.Children focus and engage with activities. They work with purpose and are eager to share their creations.

They are comfortable at the setting, interacting well with the toys and play for extended periods of time.Children are independent and make choices for themselves. This helps to build skills for their future.

Their opinions are valued by staff, who will ask what they want them to buy for snack next time.Self-care is well embedded, and all children wash hands before eating. They pick rubbish up and put it in the bin without prompting.

This shows that they care for the environment.Communication is strong with parents, schools and staff. Handover from school to the club and onto parents works well.

Staff feel comfortable to speak to the manager and to share if they are feeling overwhelmed.The manager's vision is to achieve a setting that is best for children. She is continually striving to improve her strong practice.

The manager is ambitious in her vision for the club and children, with new ideas to introduce.Children enjoy experiencing the world, with trips to the beach and to activities such as bowling. Photos show the fun they have, and children can remember their days out well.

Lovely conversations happen between staff and children. They talk to each other well, and the setting is a very friendly place. Children are confident in their interactions with all, including visitors.

They feel safe and secure.Partnerships with parents are strong. There is support for parents by ensuring that children do their reading or homework at the club.

Parents are highly complimentary about the service provided. They mention that it is well organised and that staff are trained to meet the needs of the children. This means that parents feel very comfortable and confident about the care their children receive.

Staff are exciting and enthusiastic, modelling respect and sharing conversations. This helps children to feel secure and builds on their communication skills.There are good links with the community.

Children help with the litter picking for the local park and plant flowers in support of the mayor. Strong links with the school ensure that children are supported to move between the settings, and working together is smooth.During the holidays, children enjoy taking part in the local forest school.

They love being in the fields and playing at the local park. However, the club needs to consider how to introduce more physical exercise indoors.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

Knowledge of safeguarding is very good at the setting. All staff know the signs for safeguarding issues, such as neglect and county lines. They know who to refer to and how to get more support if required.

Staff feel confident to speak with the manager. They understand how to refer any concerns, including allegations against staff. The manager has thorough evacuation plans displayed.

Regular practises take place, including discussions about the fire service. She has detailed systems in place, recording the schools from which children are collected and the staff who collect them. This ensures that everyone knows which children are attending the club.
