Summary of key findings for parents
This provision is good Staff make good use of assessment of children to identify well-targeted next steps in learning and build on their skills. Children make good progress from their starting points in learning. Staff organise the environment well to meet children’s needs and interests. Children move around independently and safely in the child-friendly space. Staff are kind and caring, and good role models. Children are well behaved and have good manners. They play happily alongside their friends and readily share resources. Older children show care and concern for their younger friends. Staff and parents work effectively together to meet children’s needs and provide continuity in their care and learning. Staff carefully monitor children’s progress and address any emerging gaps in learning. For example, they identified that boys were not engaging enough in writing activities. Staff increased resources and opportunities for boys to experiment with writing and making marks. Now all children enjoy early writing activities, such as using pens on a whiteboard and drawing with chalks on an easel. It is not yet outstanding because: Sometimes staff do not make the most of opportunities during group activities to include all children’s contributions in discussions. The staff do not consistently reflect on their own and each other’s practice to help the team identify areas for improvement, to raise standards to the highest levels.
