What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are confident within the club. They confidently approach the inspector and show an interest in the reason for inspection. Staff greet each child individually on arrival.

They communicate well with children. They ask them about their day and show a genuine interest in what children have to say. Children have opportunities to make choices for themselves.

They choose where they would like to play and what they would like to do while at the club. Children spend extended periods of time focused on the activities in which they choose to participate. For example, they spend time colouring and building different structure...s with plastic bricks.

Children show pride in their achievements and eagerly show others their creations. Staff are positive role models for children. They say 'please' and 'thank you' and encourage children to do the same.

Children behave well within the club. Older children offer help to others. For example, children hold doors open for each other on the way to the outdoor area.

Children understand the rules of the club. Staff clap a rhyme to gain children's attention. Children respond well to this and join in with clapping the rhyme.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The club has use of an indoor area as well as an outdoor play area. Within the club, leaders understand risk and can identify possible risks. All areas used by children are kept safe.

Children show an understanding of safety. Staff support this by reinforcing the club's rules at the beginning of the session. Children can identify fire exits and the procedure that they would follow to keep themselves safe.

Children share how they enjoy their time spent at the club. They express that they enjoy the activities available and spending time with friends.The club is inclusive to all children.

Staff plan and adapt practice to ensure that they cater for each individual child who attends. Staff can identify when children may need extra support and offer suggestions if necessary. For example, when children become overwhelmed, staff ask children if they would like to spend some time in the sensory tent.

Staff respond well to children. When children are not taking part, staff approach them and speak to them. They explain what is happening and what children can expect to happen next.

Staff respect children's feelings and wishes. For example, they ask children who they would feel comfortable with as a 'buddy'.During snack time, children become restless due to the extended wait times.

Children begin to clap their hands on the tables, and the noise level increases.Staff encourage children to wait patiently. Children would benefit from shorter wait times during this period.

Leaders and staff are confident in knowing the safeguarding processes and procedures. They understand their role and responsibilities. Staff can identify the signs that may indicate a child is being abused.

Children have opportunities to take part in physical activities. Staff engage well with children. Staff and children laugh and show excitement as they play 'Ultimate Tag'.

Staff show respect for children and their opinions. Children give their own suggestions on how to extend and develop games. When children give their suggestions, staff respond positively.
