They are happy to see the staff and talk about their day. Children form secure bonds with the adults working at the club and with one another. During the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, relationships between the host school and the club have strengthened.

Information sharing is detailed. Some staff work both in the school and the club, and this helps children feel safe.Children make independent choices in their play.

Staff plan a stimulating environment, both inside and outdoors, and children are purposefully engaged in their play. They play wel...l together and are happy to chat to staff during the session. Children particularly enjoy arts and crafts.

For example, children enjoy creating junk models. Staff invite younger children to use their imaginative skills. They pretend to make the drink of their choice and laugh and giggle as they watch their friends make noises for the smoothie maker.

Staff have high expectations for all children at the club. The provide an inclusive environment for all children. Children behave well and show respect for one another.

Staff are good role models and promote consistent rules and boundaries with the children. Children learn to take turns and share.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff spend time with the children and are sensitive to the children's feelings and needs.

They talk to the children and engage in meaningful conversations. Children clearly enjoy their time at the club and have developed strong bonds with the staff. The staff know the children well.

The club has an activity board where the children can request activities they would like to do.Due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, children are kept in their school 'bubble' at the club when indoors. Managers and staff have adapted well to this and encourage the children to be outdoors where they have provided a variety of resources and a stimulating play environment.

This supports children's personal, social, and emotional development and well-being.All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported very effectively. All necessary information is gathered from parents and the host school prior to the child starting.

Any additional measures needed are then put in place to provide good continuity of care. Staff support children very well and are aware of any situations that could trigger any challenging behaviour.Children enjoy playing board games, building with construction bricks, and exploring the role-play resources.

Children play well together and enjoy this time with their friends. Staff support their play and provide activities that they know children enjoy. Children have plenty of opportunity to be physically active in the large outdoor space.

They enjoy participating in group games, where they listen to instructions and follow the rules.Parents feel confident in leaving their children in the staff's care and comment on how the children always look forward to attending. Parents comment that the staff are friendly and very supportive.

Staff share information about what their children have been doing and what activities they have enjoyed.Staff say they are well supported. Newer staff members value the support that they are given from other members of staff, as well as managers.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff have a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities to protect children from harm.

They know the signs and symptoms that may indicate a child is at risk. They fully understand the wider issues of safeguarding, such as radicalisation and extremism. Staff know how to report any concerns about children to keep them safe.

All staff attend regular training, as well as meetings, to ensure that their safeguarding knowledge is up to date. Staff carry out daily risk assessments to make sure the club is safe and well maintained. Managers ensure that all staff are suitable to work with children.
