What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements All children enter this fun and inclusive club with a smile.

Younger children run into the open arms of staff at the end of the school day. Children can be heard laughing as they eagerly explore the activities on offer. They access a range of craft activities and create dance shows for the staff and other children.

Children persevere with ball games until they accurately manage to throw the ball through the hoop. They cheer with excitement and celebrate with staff. Children thoroughly enjoy the time they spend at the club.

Children demonstrate that they feel extremely safe and secure at this club and as parents co...me to collect them, they ask to stay longer. Children are confident to talk about similarities and differences between themselves and others. All children are valued and respected and individuality is celebrated.

Children have developed strong respectful bonds with staff and other children. Older children show kind and considerate behaviours towards the younger children. They talk with pride about how they help to support the younger children.

Children point out their friends and share how talented they are. They proudly exclaim that 'they are amazing at drawing'. Children talk about their feelings and what makes them happy.

When staff talk about a time they felt lonely, they listen attentively and show great care and concern. Children play cooperatively together and have excellent sharing and negotiation skills.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Leaders ensure that staff have access to a wide range of professional development.

They monitor staff practice and give feedback to support all staff to raise their skills to the highest level. Staff report that they feel valued and well supported in their roles.Excellent relationships with the host school have been established.

Staff ensure a regular two-way flow of information takes place with the teachers to enable them to provide consistency of care for the children who attend. For example, children who are being supported in school to strengthen their small muscles in readiness for writing are provided with dough to help to develop these muscles.Staff place great importance on supporting children's physical health.

Children have access to a range of activities that encourage them to be physically active. They take part in energetic games such as football and parachute activities. Children also understand the importance of keeping hydrated and resting when they are tired.

They snuggle into the comfy spaces that are available.Parents speak highly of the club and particularly the 'amazing' and 'professional' staff. They say that their children thoroughly enjoy attending the club and that they feel supported as a family by the staff who go 'above and beyond'.

Partnership working is a particular strength of this club.Children benefit from many opportunities to be independent. Children carefully use knives to make their own snacks under the close supervision of the staff.

Younger children have been taught ways to put on their own coat. They smile with pride as they flip it over their head. Children are extremely confident in their own abilities.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are extremely well supported. Staff communicate effectively with parents, teachers and other agencies. They act on their advice swiftly to ensure all children's individual needs are met to ensure continuity of care.

Children's social and emotional development is well supported. Leaders ensure that all early years children have a named key person who knows them well. Staff show a genuine interest in their work and enthusiastically join in with the children's games.

Children talk positively about the staff at the club.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Leaders ensure staff have access to a wide range of safeguarding training.

Staff have a thorough understanding of the local safeguarding partnership procedures, should they need to refer any concern about children's welfare or the behaviour of a colleague. Leaders have implemented robust procedures to ensure that children are well supervised. For instance, staff deployed in different locations use walkie-talkies to communicate when parents arrive or when children move location.

When staff identify potential risks in the spaces used by children, they take immediate action to mitigate these. Staff ensure that children are kept safe when accessing the club's games consoles. The use of consoles is closely supervised and arrangements are in place to ensure children can only access appropriate content.
