Staff support children to be independent and gain a good understanding of healthy lifestyles. For example, children follow effective hygiene routines and choose from a wide range of fruit for their snack. They can choose to play either inside or outside.

Older children support younger children in their play. They are kind and considerate to staff and to each other. For instance, ch...ildren only take what they need during snack, ensuring that there is enough left for the others at the table.

Children use impeccable manners and share well. Children and staff have very positive relationships. Children mix well together, despite the age differences.

They quickly become engaged in activities and spend time concentrating on them. For example, children enjoy spending time creating rhinos in celebration of 'World Rhino Day'. Children have a real sense of pride as they show staff and their peers their creations.

Children receive praise for their achievements, which helps to promote their self-esteem and well-being.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Children have access to the school's outdoor area, where they play football and active games. Children use their imagination and creativity well.

They learn to think and solve problems independently. For example, children work together to create a small 'den' in the natural outdoor area. They confidently negotiate and share their play ideas.

Children of all ages have good social skills.Children show they understand the good behaviour that is expected of them. All children at the club interact calmly and politely with each other and staff.

Behaviour is excellent. Children show a good understanding of the club rules and follow them well. Snack time is a social event where the atmosphere is calm and children of all ages chat to each other, recalling events and talking about their day at school.

Staff miss no opportunity to interact with children, promoting their communication, language and thinking skills very well. Children communicated confidently with the inspector. For example, they animatedly explained what they enjoy doing at the club.

Children say that their favourite things about the club are 'playing outside' and 'the lovely food at snack time'.Staff deploy themselves well and provide good levels of supervision to help keep children safe. They carefully monitor the numbers of children throughout the session as children move between the indoor and outdoor environments.

Risk assessments are completed daily before the children arrive to ensure the environment is safe.Children have a key person who communicates effectively with the school and the child's family. This supports children's well-being.

Staff's knowledge of children ensures that their individual needs are met at the setting. For example, staff recognise when a child requires some additional support to settle into the club. They work with parents and provide extra taster sessions to ensure children feel safe and happy.

The manager and staff maintain effective partnerships with parents. Parents value the well-organised club and staff. For example, they appreciate the feedback staff provide at the end of the session.
