Summary of key findings for parents

The provision is good • Children play and learn happily and contentedly. They form secure bonds with staff, who provide a caring and nurturing environment.

• Staff foster children's independence well. They provide good opportunities for children to think about how to manage risks. For example, children confidently use equipment such as safety knives to cut clay.

• Staff provide a range of interesting activities for children to help them develop new skills and support them to achieve their next steps in learning. Children make good progress in their learning and development. • Staff are positive and calm role models.

The atmosphere in the pre-school is purposeful... and conducive to learning, and children behave well. It is not yet outstanding because: • Systems to monitor staff teaching skills are not sharply focused on raising the good quality of teaching to an even higher level. • Staff do not consistently collect detailed information about what children already know and can do when they start at the setting.
