Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good Children and their families are warmly greeted by staff on arrival and welcomed into the nursery. Children arrive happy and eager to play, and settle quickly. Staff get to know individual children and their personalities well, including their routines.

Effective key-person arrangements help children to feel secure and ensure their needs are met. Children are enthusiastic learners who are keen to explore and investigate. The stimulating and welcoming environment supports children's independence and learning.

Children have opportunities to develop good early reading skills to support their future learning. For instance, older children begin to recogn...ise letters and their sounds. The premises are safe and secure and maintained to a good standard.

Staff teach children about safe practice, such as carefully managing the stairs to the outdoor area. It is not yet outstanding because: Staff do not make the most of opportunities to strengthen further the consistency of children's learning between the nursery, home and other settings children attend. Current procedures for monitoring staff performance are not sharply focused on raising the teaching skills of individual staff to the highest level.
