This provision meets requirements Children arrive happy and excited to attend the after-school club. They are greeted by warm and caring staff, who have built trusting relationships with the children. This helps to nurture children's sense of belonging and ownership.

Children take part in a wide range of activities, which complement their school day well. Children organise ball games for themselves, playing cooperatively. This helps to support children's physical development and builds on their social skills successfully.

Staff are good role models and have high expectations of children. Children are polite and well mannered. Their behaviour is good.
<...br/>Staff teach the children to recognise how their behaviour impacts on other's feelings, which results in children being kind and respectful of one another.During the COVID-19 pandemic the manager created 'bubbles', so that children remained as much as possible in their school year group to access the different areas of the club. This helped to keep children safe, but still enabled children to get the full range of experiences at the club and have social interaction with the staff and one another.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff work closely with the school to find out about children's individual needs. They use this information well to support children at the club and plan activities based on their interests. They ask children for their ideas and contributions to develop activities and the provision further.

Staff encourage children to be independent. When they arrive at the club they put their belongings away tidily. They follow good hygiene routines, such as washing their hands before having a fruit snack.

Staff talk to the children about healthy eating, which helps children learn about the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.Staff deploy themselves effectively to ensure children are well supervised and remain safe while attending the club. They take on board what children would like to do and provide accordingly.

They encourage children to have a go at completing different activities to broaden their skill set, which will stand them in good stead for their future progression.Partnerships with parents are good. They comment that the children are happy to attend the club and, despite at the moment not being able to come inside to collect their children, they still feel welcome and involved.

Staff ensure that parents know what their children have been doing and maintain good communication to ensure children continue to feel safe, secure, and happy.Children have a clear understanding of the 'rules' and boundaries at the club.Staff who currently work at the club also work in the school during the day so they use the same methods, which children are familiar with to manage their behaviour.

Children share resources and take turns well as they make firework pictures and rockets from recyclable materials.Children of different ages play well together. They make up games, throwing balls into dustbins, jumping up and down excitedly when they are successful.

Children have high levels of confidence and self-esteem. They develop positive attitudes and enjoy it when staff join in with their games, laughing and joking as they compete to see who can score the highest.The manager supports the staff well.

He provides them with regular opportunities to discuss any training needs. He follows thorough recruitment and vetting procedures to ensure staff are suitable to work with children. Staff keep their knowledge up to date and use their experience of working in school to raise the quality of their interactions with children and provide a good range of experiences at the club.

Children feel emotionally secure. They share close, warm relationships with staff. They share their news with staff as they talk about going to see firework displays or share information about what they have been doing at home or in school.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.The manager and staff have a good understanding of child protection issues and know what to do if they have a concern about a child's welfare. They can identify the signs or symptoms which may raise a concern about the safety of a child and have good knowledge about wider safeguarding issues.

Staff complete thorough risk assessments and minimise hazards to ensure that children can play safely. Staff talk to children about ways in which they can keep themselves safe. This helps them to understand the importance of following the rules.
