What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are greeted warmly by the club staff as they leave school. Staff ask children about their day, and there is a buzz of conversation as children walk with staff to collect other children from each class.

Staff chat with children continuously, which promotes their conversational skills. Children know the routine and walk sensibly. As they arrive at the club, they know to place their belongings in their cubby hole before delving into play.

Staff are friendly and approachable, and children show that they feel safe, happy and secure as they engage with them. Children enjoy playing with the staff and invite them to join ...their games. Staff have clear expectations of children's behaviour.

They subtly remind children of the rules when necessary, and children listen and respond appropriately. Children demonstrate that they understand and respect the staff's boundaries. Children have opportunities to be creative.

They experiment with watercolour paints, brushes and foam stampers. Children make different marks and explore colours as they mix different-coloured paints. Staff notice the children who have been painting for a long time and ask them to consider letting others have a turn to paint once they have finished their pictures.

Children promptly finish what they are doing, set their pictures aside to dry and free up a space for others.
