What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children enter the setting happy. They sit down for snack and select what they would like to eat from a platter of healthy snacks.

While they eat, children take part in an artic animals themed quiz. Children are highly engaged in the activity and work hard to answer the questions and score points for their team. After they finish eating, children tidy up before selecting what they would like to do from a selection of activities.

Children set up their own activities and demonstrate that they enjoy this responsibility. A group of children excitedly set up a table-tennis activity. They find all the resources needed and work t...ogether to set up the nets.

They then take turns with the activity. Children are highly engaged in activities on offer. Younger children enjoy writing Christmas wish lists.

They discuss what they would like with their peers and help each other to work out how to spell some of the words.Children behave impeccably throughout the session. Behavioural expectations are clear, and children demonstrate understanding of how to follow the rules and boundaries of the setting.

Children seek out staff to interact with and invite staff to join in their play. Children demonstrate that they value the interactions with staff. Children vocalise their needs and wants, and these are listened to.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Staff are passionate and enthusiastic in their role. They create a fun, stimulating and safe environment that children thrive in. They use challenges to engage children, and children demonstrate high levels of engagement.

All children are welcomed into the setting, and reasonable adjustments are made to ensure all children's individual needs are met to ensure they can safely access the setting and the activities on offer.Effective communication with the school helps staff to have a greater knowledge of the individual children and enables them to support children with their homework.Children speak very highly of the setting.

They are confident to discuss the activities they enjoy, and they speak highly of the staff.Parents are happy with the service provided and would recommend it to others.Safeguarding and children's safety are paramount in the setting, and staff carefully plan the environment to keep children safe.

Children's voices are captured and used to influence the planning and implementation of activities. Children choose what activities they would like to engage with in the setting. Regular surveys allow children to express their interests and make choices with regards to the activities and snacks on offer.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.All staff have excellent safeguarding knowledge. They know the signs of abuse and understand their responsibilities with regards to safeguarding all children in their care.

They have knowledge of wider safeguarding concerns, such as female genital mutilation, 'Prevent' duty and county lines. All staff know what to do if they have a concern about a child and know the steps to follow to ensure any concerns are followed up and dealt with appropriately. All staff know what to do if they felt their concerns were not dealt with appropriately and know how to contact the local authority designated officer.
