What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements The manager has a well-established staff team, and staff are passionate about their roles in the club and take time to get to know children very well. They plan activities and opportunities that ignite children's excitement and build on their learning from school.

Children are collected from their classes and welcomed by the enthusiastic team. They quickly settle and follow routines well. As they sit down together for a snack, children talk openly with the staff about their day and how they are feeling.

Staff support children's growing independence effectively. Children make their own wraps, selecting the filling they woul...d like and using the knives to carefully spread butter. Children feel heard and valued by staff, which builds their self-esteem and confidence.

Staff act as excellent role models and children understand the behaviour expectations of the club. Staff participate enthusiastically in children's games and play, offering praise and support where needed. Subsequently, children are respectful and polite, and their behaviour is good.

Children enjoy taking part in adult-led activities, as well as choosing from a wide range of resources during free-play time. As a result of the positive interactions children receive and the carefully planned opportunities provided, children show sustained levels of focus during their time at the club.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The club provides a secure environment for children to play.

Staff are deployed effectively to ensure that children are safe in all areas. Children freely access activities, both indoors and outdoors, during the session. Staff are highly skilled in adapting their interactions to suit the children's needs and ages.

They carefully map out activities which are tailored to children's individual abilities and interests.Managers and leaders have a clear vision for the out-of-school club. They have high expectations for all children and have a clear focus on ensuring that they receive the highest quality of care.

There is a strong ethos around supporting staff to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities. Regular training sessions enable them to continually develop their professional skills and knowledge. Staff complete mandatory training, such as safeguarding and paediatric first aid to help ensure they can maintain children's welfare.

Key-person systems are securely embedded for the children in the early years. When they start at the club, staff work closely with parents and school staff to gather information about children's likes, dislikes and developmental stage. Staff quickly build strong bonds with the children and this supports children's emotional well-being.

Partnerships with the host school are highly effective. Staff communicate regularly with teachers at the school and share a range of information to support children's welfare and well-being. Staff work closely with the school's special educational needs and disabilities coordinator to ensure the needs of all children are fully met.

Staff are knowledgeable about interventions that support individual children in their play. Support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities is strong. Staff plan opportunities for children to continue to build on the skills and knowledge they learn at school.

For example, staff know that children are learning about space. They provide activities linked to space to further develop children's learning. All children experience a consistency of care between school and the club.

Staff help children to learn how to keep themselves healthy and manage risks. Children follow good hygiene practice. They wash their hands before meals and help to tidy away the chairs and tables when finished.

Staff provide children with a healthy and well-balanced meal and carefully consider all children's dietary needs. They encourage children to be physically active. Children enjoy taking part in regular yoga and dance sessions and they learn the benefits that exercise has on their bodies and overall health.

Children's healthy lifestyles are promoted well.Parents speak positively about the club and comment that the staff are responsive, enthusiastic and extremely approachable. They explain how staff take the time to get to know their children and adapt the provision to ensure all children's needs are fully catered for.

Children know who they can go to if they need help and comment that they would like to attend the club 'every single day'. Parents receive information about the activities and meal choices on offer and are updated about the children's day in school. They also have access to an online app, which is updated regularly.
