This provision is outstanding • The manager's sustained and positive approach to improvement, over many years, underpins this high-quality nursery. She values and supports her staff, nurturing and inspiring them to exceptional levels of teaching and welfare. Partnerships with schools are exemplary and children are extremely well prepared for school.

• The manager makes excellent use of activities such as staff appraisals, coaching and meetings to identify their strengths and training needs. Staff make well-informed observations and assessments of children's achievements. They know precisely how to target and nurture children to reach higher levels of learning and staff share thei...r ideas with parents.

• Staff swiftly develop children's self-confidence and ability to express themselves. For example, they make excellent use of storytelling and singing to rehearse different voices and ways of performing. Children listen to each other, moderate their speech to a whisper, build up anticipation and share their sense of humour.

They gain the confidence to sing tunefully on their own to the whole group. • A local headteacher described how successfully staff prepare children for school. Children develop the social, emotional and academic skills, ready to flourish at school.

Highly effective partnership working means that staff already know how individual children learn best. Where children need additional help, nursery staff have already helped to put plans in place to support children. • Children, parents and school staff informed the inspector that staff operating the before-and after-school club provide 'an amazing service'.

Children delight in these short periods of imaginative play and exploration between home and school. Rather than lengthening their working day, it refreshes, relaxes and prepares children for their next activities. • Staff develop warm, supportive and professional relationships with parents and carers, many of whom praised the staff for their outstanding care for their children.
