What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children are collected from school by the friendly and caring staff. Staff listen to children as they talk about their day. They show great enthusiasm to hear about what they have done and praise them for their achievements.

Children know the routine well and confidently follow it. For example, they wash their hands on arrival and help themselves to the snacks provided. Children are helped to manage their emotions and learn how to behave towards each other.

Staff are very attentive to their needs and reassure them, as necessary, to help support their sense of security. This helps children to feel safe and settled. Children... listen attentively to staff and understand the rules of the club well.

They show that they are considerate to each other. For instance, young children help each other to build a track for their pretend cars. Older children discuss whose turn it is when they are playing games, such as noughts and crosses.

Children enjoy playing outdoors. They happily take part in physical games, such as football and twirling with hoops. This helps to support children's health and well-being.

Staff help children to join in with games and listen to their requests for play items, such as having drawing materials outdoors. This helps children to develop their social skills and encourages their engagement in their learning.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

There is a strong leadership team in place.

They are very knowledgeable and reflective of the setting. Leaders provide continuous training for staff to help them to keep their knowledge relevant and up to date. New staff complete a thorough induction programme to ensure they understand their responsibilities.

Leaders visit the setting regularly and provide support and guidance for staff as necessary. This helps to monitor the quality of the care provided for children. Staff say that they enjoy working at the club and feel very valued by the provider.

The manager is a good role model to her staff. They work closely together as a team and feel well supported by the management leaders. The manager is very attentive to children and has a natural manner with them.

She listens with interest to their ideas and incorporates these into the planned activities. As a result, children feel respected and included.Staff ignite children's imagination as they create items related to their topics, such as the Origami Safari.

Children learn how to make animal puppets and display these on the wall. They confidently talk about how they made the 'slithery snakes' and 'snapping crocodiles' by folding different types of paper.The manager helps children to listen to others during group times.

This supports children's learning when they are at school. The manager helps children to recall facts about their favourite safari animal. They eagerly participate and talk about different animals that can camouflage themselves.

Older children offer to write the facts down and display these for everyone to read.The manager continually observes what children know and can do during their play. She plans fun activities and incorporates children's ideas, such as having a designing trainers and hats competition and talent shows.

Children show confidence when they speak about what they did and what they made.Staff support children to develop an awareness of a healthy lifestyle. Mealtimes are social occasions and staff encourage children to have a drink of water or milk.

Staff provide nutritious snacks for children to enjoy after their day at school. They are reviewing the types of spreads that they provide and how they can promote the care of children's oral health during these times.Partnership with parents is strong.

Parents say that their children enjoy coming to the club and enjoy the activities provided. New parents to the club say that their children have settled well. Parents also report that their children comment about missing the staff when they are not attending.

Staff have a close relationship with teachers in the school. They share information about the children's needs and work together to help meet these. For instance, they discuss behaviour management strategies that work for individual children.
