Summary of key findings for parents

This provision is good The manager and the provider use information gained from tracking children's progress, to identify gaps in attainment between different groups of children, to help all children make good progress from when they first start. Children's behaviour is good.

Staff provide a range of activities to help children gain an understanding of risk and how to keep safe. For example, they remind children to slow down as they run across a bridge on the large wooden climbing frame outdoors. Staff use a range of teaching techniques to help children learn about the importance of eating healthily.

They skilfully explore ideas, demonstrate and model language well. For ...example, children make pretend healthy lunchboxes, they thoroughly enjoy growing and eating vegetables grown outdoors and enthusiastically taste a variety of exotic fruit. The manager has built positive relationships with local schools.

Staff complete a summary of children's progress to share with teachers to aid their transition to school. It is not yet outstanding because: The manager does not use highly effective monitoring systems to help her evaluate and maintain the good level of teaching consistently throughout the nursery. On occasion, some key staff do not use their strong skills to support the youngest children, particularly those who are settling in.
