What is it like to attend this early years setting?

The provision is outstanding

All children make significant progress in their communication and language development, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities or who speak English as an additional language. Staff employ extremely effective methods to enhance children's learning, such as close individual interaction and eye contact, sharing visual timetables and sign language.

Staff understand children's emotional needs exceptionally well. They expertly nurture the children and enable them to make firm attachments very quickly. Excellent settling procedures, such as home visits and pre-induction activities in the nursery, hel...p children to become familiar with staff and the play environment.

These highly successful strategies help children to feel safe and secure. The dedicated staff set extremely clear and consistent boundaries for children's behaviour. This helps children to feel secure and they rapidly understand the rules and routines of the nursery.

Staff set children tasks to help them feel a sense of responsibility and to successfully build their confidence and independence.Staff provide children with exceptional outdoor experiences. The imaginatively designed gardens stimulate children's curiosity as they excitedly explore and investigate.

Children have superb opportunities to learn about nature and how plants grow and change. For example, they search for acorns and describe to staff how they grow into trees.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Managers and staff meticulously reflect on the effectiveness of the provision.

They constantly increase their excellent skills as they seek innovative training and research opportunities to extend their knowledge even further. They routinely observe and evaluate each other's practice. This enables staff to continually develop their skills and also fosters a highly consistent approach to teaching.

Staff's plans to promote children's learning are highly effective as they build on children's individual interests and preferences. Children lead their own play and staff extend their learning. Staff use skilful questioning techniques that encourage children to think creatively and critically.

For example, they enable children to discover how to solve problems, such as how to fit different sized and shaped bricks together into a small space.Partnerships with parents are exceptionally strong. Staff invite parents into the nursery regularly to discuss their children's learning and participate in planning their next goals.

They offer sensitive support to parents to encourage them to capture their children's special achievements at home, and this helps staff to plan most effectively for individual children's progress.Staff build exceptionally strong links with other professionals involved in children's care and development. They are swift to make referrals if they find that children are delayed in their learning.

Staff work in close harmony with specialist teachers and health professionals, and form highly effective partnerships with other settings and schools. Staff have extremely high expectations for children and strive to ensure that they provide the best possible opportunities for children to thrive and achieve to their fullest potential.Staff expertly encourage children to make healthy eating choices and teach them about the importance of a healthy diet and physical exercise.

Children are physically active. Staff supervise them extremely closely and challenge them to take controlled risks to develop their skills further. For example, children learn to steady themselves as they balance on a climbing frame and glow with pride at their achievement.

Children learn extremely quickly to wait patiently and listen to staff's instructions. They are enthusiastic as they listen to exciting stories and sing along, performing actions to rhymes. They sit still and listen attentively as staff ask them what they enjoyed about their day.

Staff ask parents for their views frequently to help them identify key areas for development. They produce extremely detailed action plans to help them to continually make improvements to their environment and practice. Parents say they are extremely happy with their children's achievements and that the nursery is highly recommended among their friends.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff are extremely secure in their knowledge of safeguarding procedures and how to protect the children in their care. They have an excellent understanding of all safeguarding matters and are confident in their ability to identify and report any concerns.

All staff receive training in safeguarding every year to ensure their knowledge is current.
