What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

Children plan and organise their play with confidence and independence. They make good use of the resources available to support their emerging ideas and creativity.

For example, older children wait patiently for their paintings to dry before adding extra details, such as seeds onto strawberries. This shows that children are creative and patient and have good ideas about what they want to do and how to implement their ideas and creativity.Children's language, communication and thinking skills are well promoted by staff.

For example, children ask when snack time is, so staff encourage a discussion about time. This helps children to consider the clock and how many minutes it will be until snack time and lunch time.Staff have high expectations for every child and offer an inclusive provision.

They work well in partnership with parents and carers to ensure they meet children's individual needs. Staff also have high expectations for behaviour and children's behaviour is exceptional. This supports a good learning and sociable environment.

The new procedure is well established by all and promotes children's safety.

Staff have a positive attitude towards continuous professional development. They have accessed a variety of training and development courses since the last inspection. However, leaders and managers do not always monitor the effectiveness of staff training to evaluate what has been learnt.

Staff state they feel well supported at work and benefit from regular supervision procedures.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.Staff have made significant improvement since the last inspection.

All staff have revisited and refreshed their child protection knowledge. They have done this by completing safeguarding children training courses, including training around some of the wider aspects of child abuse. All staff know how to keep children safe and all are aware of the procedures to follow if they have any concerns about children or about adults working with children.
