This provision meets requirements Children thoroughly enjoy the time they spend at this welcoming after-school club.

They arrive happy and are greeted by the caring staff team. Children are eager to explore the activities on offer and play with their friends. They know the routines and take responsibility for making sure that their belongings are put in the correct place.

Children display positive and respectful relationships with their friends and the adults who look after them. Children are relaxed and engaged. They share jokes and laugh with each other as they decide what activities they wish to take part in.

Staff sit alongside children to sup...port their play. Children focus as they play board games. They excitedly wear elephant masks and try hard to use the trunk to pick up plastic donuts.

Children share their ideas and demonstrate the best way to do it. They engage in meaningful conversations with staff. Children talk about their school day and their families at home.

Children behave well. They listen attentively and respond to staff's clear expectations. For example, they wash their hands before eating and quietly line up to choose their snack.

Children are helpful and kind to younger children. They invite them to join in with their play and sit next to them at the table to eat their snack.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The newly appointed manager works alongside her staff team on a daily basis.

She regularly meets with staff to discuss best practice and to offer them support and guidance. Although staff access a wide range of online training to develop their knowledge and skills, the manager is yet to effectively monitor this and target staff's training to precisely meet their individual needs. The enthusiastic manager and the provider have a good relationship.

Together, they reflect on what the club does well and identify areas for further development.Staff morale is high. Staff state that they feel very well supported, both professionally and personally.

The provider places a strong focus on staff's well-being. She recently invited staff to attend a social evening to support team building and develop staff relationships even further.Staff plan a wide range of interesting play activities around children's individual interests and needs.

They encourage children to make independent choices about their play. Children are confident and interact positively with visitors, inviting them to play a guessing game. Children state that they very much enjoy their time at the club and enjoy playing with their friends.

They comment on the fun activities that staff provide and how nice the staff are to them.Staff speak to children in a gentle and respectful way. They model good manners and remind children to say 'please' and 'thank you' should they forget.

Staff provide the youngest children with additional support and time to think and respond during small-group activities. This supports children to feel equally involved and valued, promoting a positive sense of well-being and self-esteem.Staff support children to follow a healthy lifestyle.
