Ysgol Gynradd Llangain is within Carmarthenshire local authority. It is situated about five miles to the south west of the town of Carmarthen and serves the village and the surrounding rural area.

There are 26 pupils aged between three and 11 years on roll. The school admits pupils on a part-time basis at the beginning of the term following their third birthday and full-time at the beginning of the term in which they reach their fourth birthday. Nineteen per cent of pupils are eligible for free school meals, which is a little lower than the national average.
