This is a good school The headteacher skilfully leads a team of committed staff. Together they work hard to ensure that pupils receive a good quality of education.

Teaching is strong. Pupils make good use of the exciting indoor and outdoor environment. The curriculum is vibrant.

Activities provided give pupils memorable and interesting experiences. Outcomes are improving. In 2017, the results of the Year 1 phonics check were above the national average.

Key stage 1 results were similar to the national average. Early years children make good progress from their starting points. A slightly higher proportion than found nationally reached a good level of d...evelopment in 2017.

However, few are challenged so they exceed this level by the end of Reception. Pupils behave well. They enjoy coming to school and attend well.

Leaders ensure that pupils are kept safe from harm. Safeguarding procedures are effective. Parents and carers are overwhelmingly positive about the school.

They say that their children are well taught in a caring and supportive environment. Governors are effective in holding the school to account. They are committed to ensuring that the school continues to improve.

Leaders recognise that staff are not fully proficient in using the school's system of assessment. This means that sometimes the system is not used well enough to monitor pupils' progress. Some work set by teachers is not challenging enough.

In key stage 1, pupils do not get enough tasks that deepen their understanding and knowledge in writing and mathematics.
