Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school Since opening in November 2014, the standard of education provided by the school has improved markedly. The head of school is committed to improving the quality of teaching that pupils receive. Her determination, enthusiasm and skill has successfully eradicated past weaknesses in teaching, across the school.

As a result, pupils' outcomes continue to improve. Teaching engages pupils' interests and provides them with the skills they need to be successful in the next stage of their education. Pupils are well behaved in lessons and around the school.

They show respect for each other and adults, and have positive attitudes to their learning. T...eachers set work that is challenging and meets pupils' needs. They offer astute feedback to pupils on how to improve their work and pupils' progress is strong as a result.

Governors and the multi-academy trust have an in-depth understanding of the school. They use this knowledge effectively to challenge leaders to improve pupils' outcomes even further. Children get off to a good start in Reception.

The quality of teaching is high and ensures that children are fully prepared for Year 1. Disadvantaged pupils receive high-quality support before and after lessons in order to help them catch up. These pupils are making stronger progress as a result, and gaps between these pupils and non-disadvantaged pupils are diminishing rapidly.

Support for pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities is mostly effective. The inclusion manager works closely with staff to plan appropriate provision for pupils. However, the progress that some of these pupils make needs to accelerate further so that higher proportions achieve the standards that they are capable of.

Most pupils attend school regularly. Leaders reinforce the importance of attending school constantly to parents and pupils. However, rates of absence are still too high for disadvantaged pupils and pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Pupils' knowledge and understanding in English and mathematics is secure and developed well across the wider curriculum. However, pupils' progress and outcomes in mathematics are weaker than in English at the end of key stage 2.
