Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school The quality of leadership is good. The principal, supported by senior leaders and governors has established a clear vision, shared by all staff.

As a result, this harmonious school provides a good standard of education. The governing body is effective. Governors know what the school does well and where it could improve, and they are committed to moving the school forward.

The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good. Teachers have high expectations of what pupils should achieve. Most pupils across all key stages make at least good progress in a range of subjects, including in English and mathematics.

Strategies to dev...elop pupils' writing skills have led to pupils making progress above national averages. This represents a significant improvement from the previous inspection. Provision in the early years is good.

Children make good progress because leadership and teaching are effective. The engaging curriculum supports pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development effectively. The business and enterprise programme provides pupils with an inspirational insight into the world of work.

The school's work to promote pupils' personal development, behaviour and welfare is strong. The school's values underpin pupils' positive attitudes to learning. Pupils attend school regularly and on time.

Pupils are proud of their school, enjoy their learning and are keen to do their very best. Most pupils behave well. Their friendly manner and the respect they show to others are because of the good relationships that exist throughout the school.

Safeguarding is effective. Pupils said that they feel safe and their parents and carers agree. The majority of parents are highly supportive of the school.

However, some would like some aspects of communication improved so that they can support their child's learning even more. Leaders and governors do not systematically check that written records are detailed and of high quality. Some pupils supported by the special education needs funding do not receive the best value from their learning.

Those pupils do not make at least good progress across a wide range of subjects in all key stages.

It is part of the London Diocesan Board for Schools. Pupils on roll at the school are currently in Nursery to Year 9. The school has three sites.

Nursery and Reception to Year 4 are based at the Lower School in Prothero Gardens, Years 5 to 9 at the Middle School in Sunningfields Road. Years 9 to 11 and sixth-form students will be based at Stamford Raffles, which is currently being redeveloped and is due to open in September 2017. Since the previous inspection, the chair of governors, the current principal and vice principal took up their posts.

A high proportion of pupils are eligible for free school meals. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities and who are receiving support is below the national average. The proportion of those with a statement of special educational needs or an education, health and care (EHC) plan is above the national average.

The school receives support through the London Diocesan Board for Schools and the local authority. The school currently uses one off-site provider, The Pavillion Study Centre, to support the learning of a very small number of pupils. In 2016, the school met the government's current floor standards, which set the minimum expectations for the pupils' attainment and progress in reading, writing and mathematics by the end of Year 6.

A section 48 inspection of religious education did not take place at the same time as this inspection. The school operates a breakfast club and after-school clubs on each of the two separate sites each day. The breakfast club helps to prepare pupils for their day of learning.
