Summary of key findings for parents and pupils

This is a good school The headteacher, supported by able senior and middle leaders, has provided clear direction in bringing about school improvement.

Improved teaching is raising standards of attainment. In 2018, at the end of key stage 2, an above average proportion of pupils reached both the expected and higher standards. The most able pupils are appropriately challenged.

Governors are proactive, supportive and challenging. They work very effectively with school leaders. Teamwork is a real strength.

All adults, including pastoral, administrative and learning support staff, are skilled and sensitive in supporting pupils. Disadvantaged pupils and tho...se with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive effective support that helps them to make good progress. The curriculum is well designed to meet local needs.

Many enriching opportunities, provided in lessons, events and through extra-curricular activities, help to shape pupils' learning experiences. Children in the early years get off to a good start in school, thriving in a vibrant and nurturing environment. Pupils have a keen sense of fairness and show respect towards each other and adults.

The calm school atmosphere provides a solid foundation for productive and effective learning. The distinct Christian ethos that runs through all aspects of the school makes a strong contribution to pupils' personal development. Pupils feel safe and secure.

They trust and cooperate with the adults, who look after them well. Safeguarding arrangements are of a high order. Community links are strong and parents and carers have a very positive view of the school.

Attendance has improved over time and is above average. Few pupils miss school. While teaching overall is good, sometimes the sequence of learning is not clear for the least able pupils, or the method and resources are not suitable for the task.

Although handwriting and spelling receive weekly attention, some pupils require further support in applying these skills in their independent writing. The skills of subject leaders beyond English and mathematics are not yet fully developed to ensure consistently high standards of written work across all classes.
